Blog Safety

I've been doing a little research on how careful you need to be when blogging.  It's amazing what can happen if you're not.  I know the same rule applies to Twitter, Facebook, e-mail, etc., but for some reason, I haven't really thought about it until now.  It's a tough thing to fathom, that there are internet predators online 24/7, 365.  Here we have these amazing modern conveniences, but can't feel 100% safe and secure while using them.  How many of you have fallen prey to an online hacker?

  1. I know what you're saying about online safety & security. I just purchased a desktop computer and it came with "30 days of free norton antivirus". Now I'm approching the end of the 30 days, and I'm staring at spending $69.95 to 'protect my computer' from these people!! What a hassle!

  2. Never been hacked personally but I know a few people that have. It's a nightmare to have your identity stolen. Fixing things takes months and even then sometimes your credit report doesn't look so hot! Hackers are becoming more and more crafty in their skill set now a days too so you always have to be extra careful with your personal information for sure. The big key is making our kids understand that as well. They are so much more trusting than we are. Hopefully with Virginia's mandated internet safety curriculum (each county produces their own) our students will be more prepared to defend themselves online.
